Lindsay Hutchens has worked toward establishing herself in the photography and music industries since her sophomore year in high school. She has photographed the band Flogging Molly extensively since 2003 and her photos of the band have been featured in their albums, a documentary film and in publications nation-wide. Her music photography has been published in magazines including Rolling Stone and Spin, and she was awarded in the photography contest, How to Judge a Band by It's Cover, judged by rock documentarian Charles Peterson.
Most recently, Lindsay was asked by Flogging Molly to fly to Ireland and photograph in the studio as they record their next album. With still images and high definition video, she captured the ins and outs of studio life: work days that start at noon and end at 2:00 am; down time filled by tax paper work, skeet shooting and hiking through the Irish countryside; satisfaction at completing a song; frustration and anger at not being able to get another song right; a birthday celebration at the local pub with traditional music, singing, storytelling and dancing; and the love/hate relationship that comes out of spending the majority of one's time with the same seven people for ten years. Her work appeared on the cover and throughout Flogging Molly's 2008 release, Float.
A 2005 graduate from Brooks Institute of Photography, Lindsay began her post-graduate career on a two-month U.S. tour with the bluegrass/punk band Scotch Greens. She then interned for Norman Jean Roy in Hollywood, followed by an internship with renowned photojournalist and filmmaker Lauren Greenfield. Lindsay currently works full-time in Lauren Greenfield's studio as photo assistant and has worked on editorial and advertising shoots, multimedia projects, major television commercials and an award winning short film.
Lindsay currently lives in Los Angeles, California and accepts freelance assignments. Please contact info@lindsayhutchens.com for more information.
